Zim–Asset, guide to development: MP Gwanongedza

Speaking to Great Zimbabwe University Media students at Eagle Lodge in Chivi, the Member of Parliament for Chivi constituency Honourable Gwanongedza highlighted that Zim-Asset is the guide to all the developments currently underway in the area.
He noted that, “it (Zim-Asset) is the guiding vision for an empowered society and growing economy and since it encompasses much which sustains a human survival it is appealing to the people of Chivi as the area is at its early stages of developing”
Clusters which are covered by the blueprint include food security, social service and poverty eradication, infrastructure and utilities and value addition and beneficiation.
In line with the new Constitution of Zimbabwe which mandates that the state and all institutions and agencies of Government at every level must promote “self-reliance” and foster commercial enterprise to empower Zimbabwe citizens, the member of parliament is spearheading a number of projects which are promising good results.
The community mobilizer of ward 30 in Chivi central Mr Nyami pointed at the current projects which are running.
“We are grinding peanuts whereby we do butter making, growing chickens and bricks moulding is being done also”, said Mr Nyami.
There is need to improve people’s livelihoods the MP added and people are involved in these projects he said this in line with the Indigenisation and Economic Act which defines empowerment as “the creation of an environment which enhances the performance of economic activities of indigenous Zimbabweans hence indigenisation.
The Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset) was launched by the Government in October 2013 and will run until December 2018.
